Sunday School

Mount Hermon Sunday School Study Groups

Mount Hermon Sunday School has a rich tradition and history. It continues to be a core time to build relationships and grow in our walk with Jesus Christ. Our classes provide a more intimate setting with smaller numbers leading to impactful discussion and growth.  Connecting with our mission to Sprout, Grow and Bear Fruit, our ultimate goal is to enter our community as more focused and fruitful individuals.

Sundays begin with our optional Coffee Fellowship and then our Sunday School groups take center stage. Families and individuals have many choices to engage in the Gospel of Life.

Classes are provided for all ages from 9:45 to 10:45. Children’s Church is provided during worship for ages 4-8 along with a nursery for the younger children.

Mount Hermon provides a Sunday School class for grades 1-4 called “Believe and Blossom.” Our class focuses on teaching our young children all about God by reading about His miracles and how He wants us to be more like Him. Our class begins with prayer and praises followed by a lesson. Our children enjoy crafts that go along with the lesson. We also provide a class for them on Wednesday nights from 6:00-7:00 pm where we enjoy fellowship with one another and a lesson. The more they know about God, the more their belief in Him can blossom.

A growth group (grades 5, 6, 7, and 8) called “Simple Faith” is available on Sunday mornings from 9:45 until 10:45 am.  Sunday School time is spent in prayers and praises, studying God’s Word (a personal Bible is provided for each member), memorizing the books of the Bible and scripture verses.  This is a very interactive, enthusiastic class with male and female students. This same class also meets on Wednesday nights to focus more on scripture memorization and Bible trivia.

An adult class for men and ladies of all ages.  We are currently using Lifeway’s “Bible Studies for Life” curriculum. Low-key discussion about how the Bible relates to our everyday life provides an opportunity to get to know and invest in each other. Building and maintaining relationships is key in our Christian walk.

Our Multiply study group welcomes all ages and was named after the book Multiply by Francis Chan.  Originally started as a “College and Career” class, it naturally became home to some “core” Mount Hermon congregants and then our Orange County Correctional attendees. It’s a diversified group and a blessing as we share with one another through our study of different books of the Bible. Lessons are very discussion-based, focused on real life issues and challenges as we grow in our faith walk. Currently, this class is working through the book of Acts.

Fall Series: “A Light for My Feet” – tips from God for living a life that works and fulfills

God longs to forgive and heal. He has also worked very hard to give us guidance so that we and the people we love can live healthy lives–lives that don’t need quite so much healing!  Using the book of Proverbs as our “handbook,” we’ll explore God’s instructions for sex, family, watching your words, money, and life in general that remain as practical today as when they were first given thousands of years ago.  When it comes to life, are you thousands of years behind the curve?  Come catch up.

The Hudson Class includes our most senior adults and meets year-round from 9:45-10:45 am on Sundays. The class begins with prayer requests, praises and sharing information about our shut-ins. The Bible study time uses the Lifeway “Bible Studies for Life” curriculum with study guides provided to all attending. The Bible passages in the guides are from the King James Version of the Bible and comparisons are used from other translations (NIV 1984 and 2007} to improve understanding. Discussions are encouraged.
